I love teaching music!
I especially love to teach the creative side of music. In addition to traditional aspects of piano lessons like technique, repertoire and reading music, I show students how to create their own works. They also learn how to improvise and play what they hear in their heads.
It's really easy once I show them how. Sometimes it's just teaching them some cool tricks that they can use to be creative, but often it comes from developing a deeper understanding of music. How does it work? Why do certain notes and chords go together? Understanding these types of questions enables more fluid creativity as well as a better understanding of other composers works.

I am the author a music composition adventure book series that takes the children on magical quests. The students must write songs in order to progress through the quest. The kids love these quests and learn a lot through the experience. You can find out more at www.MusicCompositionAdventures.com

I have a degree in music education and have been teaching piano for over 25 years. I am a former director of the music program at The Garden School of Marietta and a former Fulton County Band teacher. I have a wonderful report with children and the ability to move them along while keeping piano fun!
